Building for Our Livestock

We got 16 baby chicks in May 2023. We spent time building them a brooder box, a chicken coop and a large fenced area. We built the brooder box with leftover siding and built the chicken coop with pallets from our huge insulation delivery.

As soon as the snow melted, we took down 1,500 feet of old buried barbed wire fencing that lined the road of our 10 acre parcel. It had not been maintained for decades. Once that was complete we spent the long summer days and nights building a 5 acre barbed wire fence for our future livestock.

No farm is complete without the protection of the guardian dog. We have two Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix dogs. We got Nellie Ann as a puppy in July, 2022 and adopted Gracie Bell in November, 2023. Both are fantastic guard dogs, but if you meet them you will see that they are both just sweethearts that want all the pets.

Of course we cannot forget to mention Kitty, who is our BHaRN cat! She keeps the mice away and we are eternally grateful for her service!
